This season the Clouds Dignity program is focused on Domestic Violence and the work of Porch Light Family Justice Center in Jefferson County, Colorado.
Porch Light is a safe, caring environment that provides one-stop services and support to victims of domestic violence and you’re going to be hearing a lot about them this month on 96.9 the Cloud.

Today we welcome Porchlight Executive Director Candace Cooledge to the Cloud with our very own Irene Rawlings.

Candace has been a prosecutor with the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office for 16 years.
She was most recently assigned to the Special Victims Unit handling domestic violence cases and crimes against children. Through her work in the District Attorney’s Office she identified the need for a Family Justice Center, and with the leadership of former DA Pete Weir, made that vision a reality in PorchLight.
She sat down with Irene Rawlings to visit about this very important work in our community.

Though on the decline in Golden since the pandemic most experts agree that many cases go unreported.
City of Golden Police Chief Joe Harvey provided KKCL News an updated graph of those cases within the city limits (population 19,800 in 2021). That report showed a decrease, but yet still too many of reported cases of domestic violence in Golden last year.

Once a case is reported is when Porch Light steps in.
Porch Light Family Justice Center (FJC) provides comprehensive legal, emotional and critical supportive services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, abuse of at-risk individuals, elder abuse, and human trafficking.
