Eat, Pray & Live.

Our up-and-down and all around weather in Colorado can actually impact your vibe.

Whether you struggle with natural day-to-day worries or a clinically diagnosed disorder, you may need support for common anxiety.

Conventional treatments like medicine and psychotherapy are popular ways of dealing with anxiety, but there are many natural approaches — including some fairly simple (and perhaps unexpected) lifestyle adjustments that work well with our Colorado lifestyle.

Here are a few of the most common natural remedies for anxiety:

1. Diet:

What goes in is what comes out.

A well-balanced diet is one of the most important and well-known facets of dealing with stress and anxiety.

It’s also crucial to drink plenty of water and limit trips to Starbucks and, well booze (especially alone).

Both of which can spike anxiety.

You might even consider some alternatives from our friends at Light Shade in Colorado

Light Shade is a proud supporter of 96.9 the Cloud.

You may find increasing minerals like zinc and magnesium helpful too.

2. Supplements:

There are certain herbs and vitamins known to support our bodies as they deal with stress.

Keep in mind that some herbs can negatively interact with medicines, so please discuss supplements with your doctor.

3. Exercise:

Regular workouts can decrease tension, elevate and stabilize mood, support sleep, and improve self-esteem.

Even five minutes of aerobic exercise can stimulate anti-anxiety effects.

Yoga can also reduce stress and anxiety because it involves breathing techniques, relaxation, and taming the body’s stress response through a lower heart rate and blood pressure.

The great thing about yoga? You can do it anywhere.

It’s all about Colorado living in the Cloud!

4. Music, Meditation & Prayer:

This powerful combinationcan help the body and mind regulate what might be a stress point in your life. A quiet time to begin your daily journey is key.

Music can impact your groove and make you feel good at the same time (you will never tire of that favorite song on the radio).

Lastly, no one is an island.

Make time for a nice chat, coffee or phone call with someone you care about daily.

It’s called: The best friend method. The new movie and classic music of Queen just might be the cure.

Give your small business a BIG lift in the Cloud:

Join the Cloud advertising community today for as little as $100.00 a month. Now in your second year, the Cloud reaches over 200-thousand listeners every month.

Our unique Adult Hit Music format is built for business:

The Cloud’s primary listeners are women 30 plus and secondary men 40 plus.

All of our measured people metered audience by Nielsen Ratings Company is in Jefferson and Boulder County, Colorado.

What’s more, our loyal listeners stay with the Cloud all day.

In fact, our listeners tune in longer than any radio station in the Denver metro.

Everything in green is 96.9 the Cloud on your car radio in the Denver-Boulder Metro.

Why we focus on Baby Boomers and Generation X in the Cloud:

The Cloud is focused on our “money audience” for our community and advertising partners. This is part of the Cloud difference that makes our new radio formula work for our advertisers.

The Clouds return-on-investment promise:

Fully Custom Messages: designed to sell your unique message in the Cloud.

Every ad you hear in the Cloud is written and produced by our award winning creative team.

Advertising in the Cloud is a remarkable return on investment:

The commercial messages that air daily in the Cloud are designed to make your business stand out and sell your business to our listeners.

We can do this because the Cloud only airs one single commercial per break.

You read right:  your business will be the only commercial message per commercial break.

No other corporate owned radio station in the Denver-Boulder radio market can do this, even if they wanted too.

Why do we do this?

It’s simple. It works.

It keeps our audience engaged through your message and back into our music mix.

It’s the Cloud difference:

Innovating how radio works for small business: be the blue fish.

The Cloud is owned and operated by myself and my friend and business partner Bob Greenlee.

I was born here in Colorado, CU Boulder and then DU grad. Then off to manage some of the most admired radio stations in the country. Including some of the most successful radio stations here at home (including KOSI-FM, KHOW-AM and the Mile in Vail).

Bob and his wife Diane are the original founders of KBCO-FM in Boulder and KXPK-FM (the Peak) in Denver.

Several trips around the sun, Bob and I have been business partners for over 20 years!

We would be honored to serve you.

The Magical Wonders of a Breakfast Burrito.

Rain or shine there’s always a line at Tamale Kitchen on South Kipling and Belleview in Jefferson County.

It might very well be due to the ever tasty and always filling breakfast burritos.

For as long as anyone can remember there have always been breakfast burritos in Colorado.

So it’s little wonder why Jeffco’s favorite stop for breakfast burritos prompted us to do a little research into who actually invented this delicacy.

Cloud Pick: Tamale Kitchen in Jeffco

The Cloud salutes this savory creation that begins with these key ingredients and ends with a nice warm tummy.

First, creamy rich chili, gently whipped and scrambled fresh eggs, nicely diced and roasted potato, shredded monterey jack cheese, all delicately wrapped in a warm fluffy flour tortilla.

At this point of culinary bliss your only real dilemmas: red or green chili, smothered or wrapped in foil.

Happy Mother and Daughter at Tamale Kitchen

Tamale Kitchen is a Colorado treasure. As winter’s alpine season finally begins, its every snow ski or boarders first stop (perhaps after Starbucks).

On warmer days in Jeffco its also the first stop (okay, maybe second after Starbucks) of every golfer and mountain biker in the Colorado.

You have not loved and lost until one of the many pesky magpies at Fox Hollow Golf Course in Jefferson County steals your breakfast burrito on the number one tee.

The historic origins of the breakfast burrito are as smothered as who invented the classic Martini or Caesar salad.

Historical accounts of the breakfast burrito point far south of Belleview Avenue.

In Santa Fe, New Mexico,  Little William Harm’s Burrito Shack, claims to have invented the original breakfast burrito in 1975, filling a rolled tortilla with bacon and potatoes, served with chili and cheese.

Other aficionados believe the creation was a little to the north in Taos, New Mexico. Where Michaels Kitchen created a breakfast dish with both red and green chili that same year.

That colorful creation became the Christmas Burrito (red + green).

But long ago, right here in Colorado, the original La Hacienda in Five Points may have beat out both.

In 1950 Salvador and Esther Mackintosh founded the now gone La Hacienda in an old church at 3090 Downing.

The Mackintosh Family story is one of Denver legend.

According to that legend, the breakfast burrito was born when young Esther began work at the restaurant in the early morning hours.

In order to keep her many children and now growing staff fed at that hour? You guessed it.

Every morning Esther Mackintosh simply rolled a warm fluffy flour tortilla, gently whipped farm fresh eggs and cheese from the original Royal Crest Dairy, with her legendary green chili pork gravy.

I think we are going with Esther’s legend from a historical perspective and Tamale Kitchen today.

Now, that’s a wrap.

The Cloud Cares: The Beautiful Scar Event Was a Remarkable Family Adventure.

When you think about Colorado comfort food, there’s little wonder about what the harvest from magical places like Pueblo have been yielding for almost centuries: Colorado Green Chili.

More of a gravy actually, authentic Colorado Green (as it’s often reverently referred too) has become a staple to many a Fall meal (best served with a warm fluffy tortilla).

Comforting, calming and tasty.

It also comes as no surprise that The Alley’s genuinely caring General Manager Tommy Scarbrough thoughtfully chose the backdrop of The Alley’s Annual Green Chili Festival to promote funds and awareness for The Beautiful Scar Project.

Now in it’s second year: The turnout was breathtaking.

From the The Alley’s Main Street patio through the authentically local restaurant and welcoming bar. There were families with children. Smiling couples, singles and just happy locals filling The Alley throughout the Saturday event. There was even face painting for children (and a few brave parents) and corn hole flats in The Alley’s wildly popular food truck back patio (actually in the Littleton Post Office alley).

Nothing Like a Nice Bowl of Green in the Cloud.

Within the crowd, dozens of local Chili Chefs we tending to a perfect formation of crock pots as far as the eye could see. Green Chili with Chicken, Green Chili with Pork (of every variety from pulled to roasted) and one adventurous batch made with Tofu.

At the end of the afternoon event, the room became peacefully silent as the seriousness of the moment became center stage.

The Beautiful Scar Project is a non profit organization created by Scott and Kim Woods after their son, Caleb Calvin, was born still on December 12th, 2011.

The Beautiful Scar Project’s mission is to provide families grieving the death of their infant due to miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal death the tools to turn the loss of their much loved and desired baby into a beautiful scar.

As Scott and Kim thanked everyone for their support, it became clear that not only The Alley, but the City of Littleton cares about its people, its friends and community.
